A Catalyst for Liberty

The American Mission® Center Expansion

In his last will and testament, George Washington called for a “University” to be constructed in the middle of the country. He saw a center that would become a gathering place for young Americans to study the first principles of the Declaration, the Constitution and the Founding Era. General Washington was both intentional and prescient. His primary concern was that young Americans would travel back to Europe for their collegiate training and be immersed in a worldview incompatible with the first principles of American Liberty. Thus, his parting concern that such a center be firmly planted in the center of the country.

The need to teach the first principles of America has never been greater than in this current hour. Those principles are the foundation of the Declaration of Independence which has been under attack since the early 1900’s. Many public schools no longer teach basic civics. Many universities do not require courses in American history and some disdain even the conversation of the Declaration. Many Americans do not own nor have ever read America’s most essential founding document. Recent political decisions in Washington, D.C. have left the Declaration of Independence abandoned in our national museums and historical sites.

In the year of the 250th celebration of the Declaration of Independence, the Trustees of the American Policy Roundtable (APR®) are committed to raising a new standard of support for this treatise of Liberty. On July 4th, we broke ground on the construction of Declaration Hall.

Why Declaration Hall?

In a virtual world, why a building dedicated to “fully human” experiences? Because the Trustees and Staff Leadership of APR® have reached a consensus that a gathering place for live audiences, broadcast media and online participation is essential to the core mission of APR®: “To reach all people with the message of Liberty.”

The need to be fully human in a digital era, to connect with others in person as well as online is essential for the future of the nation and an inseparable necessity for the generations to come.

In addition, over the last 20 years of political polarization, it has become increasingly difficult and expensive to hold quality events that can be distributed effectively on radio, video and online from “rented space.” Families from across the nation and several leaders in academia have encouraged us to put together a training center—a place where people can gather that bears a consistent testimony to the worldview of Biblical thought that anchors the American experience.

Production center

Declaration Hall is designed to be a production center for discovering, communicating and experiencing the first principles of the Declaration of Independence. The Public Square®, Kids on the Square®, Christmas in America, and iVoters.com® will all use Declaration Hall for production events. Specialty events such as guest lectures, non-partisan candidate debates, and concert experiences will also be hosted at Declaration Hall.

Teaching Center

Declaration Hall is designed to be a teaching center where students from grade school through graduate school can participate in live educational events as well as online experiences. Several Christian schools and Universities have already expressed significant interest in cooperative learning opportunities.

Gathering Place

Declaration Hall is designed to be a gathering place where inspiring events, classes and seminars will be held and then broadcast to the world.

The facility will contain:

- - - - A welcoming entrance built as a replica of the Adams’ home in Quincy, Massachusetts. Here John Adams worked to develop the Declaration of Independence and John Quincy Adams worked to preserve it.
      - A museum quality gallery dedicated to the ideas that gave birth to the Declaration of Independence modeled after the Adams Presidential Library.
      - An Assembly Hall with on floor seating of nearly 400 and a balcony.
      - A “Loving Monday” Library and Conference Room to promote leadership training in ethics and Biblical thought in the marketplace.
      - A lower level for dressing rooms, storage and a green room to support live event experiences.
      - A fully equipped theatrical fly system to support the main stage.
      - A main stage sufficient for daily production of radio and video products as well as live events.
      - Permanent professional sound and lighting to facilitate all of the above.
      - A revision and upgrade of parking facilities at The American Mission® Center property.

How much will this cost to build?

The APR® Design Committee is a group of experts in the field of business, construction, theater, live events, music performance and American history. This team has assembled plans at three levels of development. We have plans that range in costs from $10 million to $20 million.

How will we decide which plans to build? That is the question we are praying over daily. Our hope is to aim as high as faith will afford. We are busily inviting donations of all sizes today. We broke ground on this project in faith on July 4th, 2026. At that point in time we had gathered an initial $3.6 million dedicated to launch this project.

How much will it cost to maintain?

The plan is to open Declaration Hall debt-free. The land is owned by APR®, a tax-exempt non-profit organization established in 1980. Of course, this new facility will represent additional operating costs to the organization. Some existing program costs, however, will diminish immediately from our current budget. This includes the time and money spent securing rented spaces, sound equipment, tents, chairs, and more.

More importantly, Declaration Hall will reap a harvest of opportunities to host high-quality live events that will be broadcast across the nation. These radio, video and online programs will create opportunities for more people to experience and financially support this ongoing mission to America.

The Roundtable model is a bit different. It does not include a fund development department, nor the annual costs associated with such a department. We provide services as the Lord provides resources through the generosity
of individuals, families, foundations and corporations across the country. For nearly five decades, new donors have joined in this effort based on our participation in the marketplace. Declaration Hall will enable us to reach more people nationwide, do far more events, distribute
better quality programming and invite more people to support this mission.

Timelines

The groundbreaking for Declaration Hall was July 4, 2026. Over 400 people from eight states were on campus (and in the tents) for our Declaration 250 Celebration. Estimated construction time for Declaration Hall is approximately two years.

The Invitation to join in this adventure is open to all.

Over 600 families, businesses and foundations
participated in building The American Mission® Center (2020-22). Our prayer is that many more will join in helping to fund Declaration Hall. All friends and supporters across the nation are invited to join in support.

Again, Why Declaration Hall?

Twenty-six years into the 21st century “We the people” of America are being atomized by political partisanship and a growing epidemic of loneliness. From the beginning, it has never been good for “man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). Together, we will work to overcome the alienation and loneliness by telling the true story of Liberty in artful methods old and new.

Perhaps the best witness of this mission was presented on July 4th, 2026, at the groundbreaking ceremony for Declaration Hall. After an amazing concert celebrating the Declaration, a ten-year old girl took the stage. She greeted the audience and then began to recite excerpts of the Declaration from memory. When she reached the words “with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor,” the crowd lept to their feet with a roar of applause.

That ten-year-old child said it all. This Liberty we seek to remember, proclaim and secure, is for these children and those yet to be born.
