Wayne Shepherd

Wayne Shepherd:  Welcome to The Public Square® with Dave Zanotti of the American Policy Roundtable .  I'm Wayne Shepherd with good news and bad news. The good news is we have an hour long version of this program. The bad news is we only have two minutes right now to talk about anything.

Dave Zanotti:  What we did is we brought everybody in Wayne. We've had days and days of research. And then we had hours and hours of discussion and prayer, and then we brought the team in. We brought the physicians in, we brought the pastors in, we brought the policy people in. And we tried to talk about this nationalized healthcare program.  Every person agrees - from whichever division or department they are coming at this - is once you go here, you're not going to be able to get out.

WS:  There's no turning back.

DZ: It is a very somber, sober, even scary thought.

WS:  I agree.

DZ: There's a lot of hype about the healthcare crisis.  People are really being manipulated to be afraid, that there is going to be an end of the world if we don't do something right now.

WS:  Well there is a big P.R. campaign going on right now to get this passed.

DZ:  Huge P.R. campaign to create a sense of crisis to make people believe that the politicians in Washington are going to solve this. But I want to remind people one thing - most of the people who are doing the talking have never read the legislation.  They honestly don't know what this looks like and what will actually happen. They're just trying to sell us a solution; we're not even sure they quite understand the problem.

WS:  And the rush is on. But we need to take a step back don't we?

DZ: Well one way we can do that is by listening to this long format program. It came up on the weekend nationally. And we've kept it online and we even have some bonus material as well. So if you want to get a long format conversation that will be helpful, visit us at

WS:  Yes as always, this longer edition of The Public Square® is posted there on the website.  We've really expanded this conversation. The information you need is right there. This has been The Public Square®.
