Wayne Shepherd

Wayne Shepherd:  Welcome to The Public Square® with Dave Zanotti of the American Policy Roundtable. I'm Wayne Shepherd. And Dave, I can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve, what you've got planned for us here today.

Dave Zanotti: Wayne, we want to make sure people don’t get skunked by Congress. It’s summer time and who wants to worry about what the politicians are doing back in Washington? In the old days, before air conditioning and antibiotics, Congress would recess for the summer because no one wanted to be in all that humidity, in the sweat box of the DC area in July.

Today, unfortunately, the lights are always on in DC. This Congress is knee deep in energy and healthcare legislation. The cap and trade bill is before the Senate. I've got to tell you Wayne, this is very troubling legislation for lots of reasons. The measure has huge downside ramifications for every taxpayer and business—everywhere people are listening today.

And you know how we feel about nationalized healthcare. We just can’t find a single reason to support the way Congress is attacking the issue. Sure there's problems in health care but there are much better ways to go about solving them.

You can find lots of information on both these issues, both these bills on our website. But before you do, I just want to make one disclaimer. We do this differently. Our approach is not about political parties, or candidates, or power. Our approach to all these issues is this: What does the word of God teach about these matters and how can we best walk out that truth in a civil society?

This is a very serious time in the life of our nation. And we just want you to know, we are not on vacation from the truth.

WS: Join us on the radio and join us online. Dave Zanotti and all of us at The Public Square®, I'm Wayne Shepherd. We'll see you next time.
