Wayne Shepherd

Wayne Shepherd:  Watch out - Congress is after your healthcare.  This is The Public Square® with Dave Zanotti of the American Policy Roundtable. I'm Wayne Shepherd, and Dave, this sounds serious.

Dave Zanotti:  Wayne, this threat is real and it is imminent. Congressional leaders have promised to hand the President a healthcare bill in just the next few weeks. I've got to be honest, that should scare every thinking American for a whole host of reasons, which we will be laying out over the next few visits.

Let's start with the most important one: your right to life. Have you ever thought about the government taking away your right to live? That is a weird thought for Americans. Our government is supposed to protect lives—that’s what we were raised to believe.

The Declaration tells us that our first unalienable right, the one that comes from God, that's the right to life. It goes on to tell us that the purpose for civil government is to secure or to protect that right.

So what happens when a faceless government bureaucracy decides it's time for your life or my life to be over? That is exactly where nationalized healthcare is heading. It’s all about saving costs and the only way for a healthcare bureaucracy to truly save costs is to cut care.

The first place you cut care is to stop treating sick people—particularly people who are likely to die or who are up in years. This is the way every national health plan works. The right to life begins to disappear for those the government decides are simply too expensive to keep around. That's where we're heading.  And Congress is taking us there in a big hurry.

WS:  Too big a hurry.  There is something you can do. You can call and email Congress today and tell them NO on a nationalized health care plan. Join us tomorrow for The Public Square®
