Ohio Roundtable: The Public Square - Liberty & the ACLU - Part 2
Liberty & the ACLU - Part 2
Sure you're busy today. Your busy everyday - we all are.
But are we too busy to care about the truth?
Back in 1828 Daniel Webster defined religious liberty as:
"The free right of adopting and enjoying opinions on religious subjects, and of
worshiping the Supreme Being according to the dictates of conscience, without external
control."
Today there is a movement to wipe out that definition and
your rights as well. The movement is headed by the ACLU, a highly organized, multi-million
dollar operation that is dedicated to the creation of religious silence in all public
places.
The goal of the ACLU is to create external controls,
government controls, that will deny you the right to pray in public or display religious
symbols on the public square. They want religious groups banned from public buildings and
want tax-exemptions abolished for religious organizations. They are leading the campaign
against school choice and against the state motto here in Ohio. And they just picked
up a donation of $7 million from a leading Ohio insurance magnate to help fund their
efforts.
Friends, there is a real danger here. The ACLU has an
agenda, a history, and millions of dollars to use against you, your church, your city and
state. And they intend to use it right here in Ohio. So if you treasure your liberty, your
right to free expression, worship, and conscience without external controls please join us
in helping spread the word. All our liberties are at risk.
